Mosaic

Several people have asked me where to get the Mosaic www viewer
that I mentioned in an earlier message. These come from
ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu

in directories such as /PC/Mosaic or /Mac/Mosaic.

It is currently at version 2.1 for Unix workstations, 1.02 for Mac
and 1.0 for PC. I also gather that the Unix version is normally one
release ahead of the Mac and PC versions.

The next major "event" will be the release of "html+" servers and
clients. As chemists, this is of interest to us, since it enables font
control (ie greek letters), tables and perhaps even sub and superscripts.

Could I ask if there is interest in using the www for eg mounting
conference proceedings etc. If anyone is interested in seeing how
a paper might be presented, try

You will need an MPEG player, ie mpeg_play on unix, or Sparkle
on mac (there is a Windows player as well).

Please note this is HIGHLY experimental, and must not be taken as
any form of endorsement or support of this technology by the Royal Society
of Chemistry, with whose permission I mounted this material.
This is purely a "feasibility" study by myself.
