I completed both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Durham, the latter being a PhD project on the ring-opening metathesis polymerisation (ROMP) of fluorinated cycloalkenes jointly supervised by Profs. Jim Feast FRS and Vernon Gibson FRS. I then worked as a post-doc with Prof. Carlo Floriani in Lausanne and spent two years doing voluntary work in West Africa before returning to Vernon's group at Imperial. I was appointed to a lecturer in the Catalysis and Advanced Materials Section in October 2005.
