The structure of 3 was confirmed by the independent synthesis shown in Scheme 4. Thus, using Moody's general procedure for the synthesis of the pyrrolo[2,3-b]indole ring system, 3, we transformed azide 6 into 3, identical in all respects (IR, TLC, UV, 1H and 13C NMR) with that obtained in Scheme 1.
