Appendix
We decided to synthesize the up to now unpublished
trihalo-thiophenes a two-step sequence: first, we prepared the
2,4-dihalo-thiophene HD-reaction, which in the next step was halogenated
to the desired "mixed" tri-halo-thiophene. In this way we could
synthesize product A and C, but
failed to prepare B.
