  • Logical argument expressed as free-form prose when an article is written
  • As (ontology-free) citations when an article is written
• By the Publisher, as a:
  • ToC/markup provided within the Journal environment
  • Information lost when article relocation occurs to Acrobat/Hard drive
• But recovered by the (Human) Reader using abstracting services, via:
  • Full text and molecular structure searches
  • relying on human-curated metadata
• Increasingly, by the author as self-publisher, via:
  • Open Access archival/Digital repositories
  • Seminars and Conferences
  • Blogs and Podcasts
• And quite a lot by accident (Serendipity)
