How are Scientific Links currently established?
- By the authors, via
- Logical argument expressed as free-form prose when an article is written
- As (ontology-free) citations when an article is written
- By the Publisher, as a:
- ToC/markup provided within the Journal environment
- Information lost when article relocation occurs to Acrobat/Hard drive
- But recovered by the (Human) Reader using abstracting services, via:
- Full text and molecular structure searches
- relying on human-curated metadata
- Increasingly, by the author as self-publisher, via:
- Open Access archival/Digital repositories
- Seminars and Conferences
- Blogs and Podcasts
- And quite a lot by accident (Serendipity)
