The functions of each module
- The Web-based organiser (ELN) establishes the identity of the researcher using ORCID
- We have already implemented full ORCID authentication into our Web-based organiser (ELN) via a user profile
- We are exploring the use of Symplectic as a UG/PG portal for controlled ORCID assignment
- Our Web-based organiser (uportal ELN) establishes:
- trust between it and the DSpace persistent public repository
- trust between it and the Figshare persistent public repository
- uportal ELN workflows a researcher's activity via binding to e.g. the HPC job scheduler
-
uportal ELN collects/generates metadata describing each experiment (computation) via:
- Date stamps for all activity (as metadata)
- Workflows for generating metadata: the InChI key and InChi identifier for molecular data
- Workflows for generating different syntactical representations of the data for maximum user utility
- The DSpace persistent public repository stores/curates the outputs and their metadata as discrete objects in OAI-PMH-compliant form
- assigns one or more unique persistent identifiers to each object (Handle manager and DataCite )
- Implements a (proposed) standard (10320/loc records) for creating machine-actionable landing pages.
- Implements standards for metadata harvesting (DataCite)
- Implements standards for resource synchronisation across repositories (SWORD).
