NOTATION

Free text for any purpose. The primary purpose is to encapsulate foreign material and describe it with attributes (not for authors to write semantically void text!). Various NOTATIONs are described (if you know what to do with them). If contents include any markup characters of the sort < they should either be escaped with & or enclosed in marked sections (XML conventions).

The type and purpose of the file/information can be described with the DICTNAME/CONVENTION attributes

• cml -- A toplevel DTD encompassing HTML 2.0, SCIML and MOL.
• figure -- A figure, possibly in encoded binary.
• mol -- Toplevel container for molecular information.
• sciml -- A toplevel container for the SCIML DTD.
• xlist -- A very flexible generic list/tree/table container.
