Research Interests

My interests centre around the theory and simulation of interfacial systems. In the early 70's Neville Parsonage and I pioneered the application of simulation techniques to physical adsorption. In recent years my interests have been focused mainly on confined systems were the physically adsorbed molecules are strongly held in small pores such as those found in porous carbons and in zeolites. Materials of this type are widely used for adsorption based separations and there is much current interest in developing microporous membranes. This has led to the study of dynamical and transport properties of adsorbed fluids, including the development of non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation methods.
