Positions available in the KKH research group*
A CASE studentship sponsored by Johnson Matthey plc is available in Dr. K. K. (Mimi) Hii research group in the Catalysis and Advanced Materials Section, to start in October 2011, or soon after.
This is an interdisciplinary project between Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, aiming to combine the best of catalytic and flow chemistry, to deliver clean and effective synthetic organic transformations. It will also utilise the EXAFS spectroscopy to examine the behaviour of catalyst under catalytic turnover.
The studentship will include 3-month placement at one of the Johnson Matthey research laboratories during the course of the PhD. There are also opportunities to travel to the European Synchrotron Research Facilities (Grenoble, France) during the course of the PhD, to conduct EXAFS experiments.
The project provides excellent training in catalytic and synthetic chemistry, and associated kinetic and mechanistic experimentation, including state-of-the-art time-resolved spectroscopy. Applicants should have a First or Upper Second Class MSci Degree in Chemistry (or an equivalent degree). Candidates must also be ‘UK students’ in order to be eligible for full support (this includes EU citizens who have been resident in the UK for a period of 3 years for any purpose, including undergraduate studies).
Further details and Informal enquiries can be made to Dr. Mimi Hii (e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org).
There are no funded postdoctoral vacancies at the moment.
