REFERENCES

The objective of this Project was to use as many possible types of searches to gather chemical information on a chosen molecule,Taxol. Computer workstations and network information resources were used to carry out the searches. Specific references are given in the main body and are always at the end of the section. Here general references will be given which helped to compile the whole project:-

Keyword-based general Bibliographic searches:-

Libertas system with the Imperial College library database (search strings: Taxol, cell biology & journal names to locate their whereabouts )

Science Citation Index database, BIDS ISI (search string: Taxol)

Internet based databases such as Hotbot , Yahoo , Lycos , Infoseek (search strings: Taxol, Taxol+synthesis, Taxol+Anticancer agent, Placlitaxel, Taxol+ tubulin, ...)

2D Chemical Structure Searches:-

Beilstein Crossfire (search strings: 'structure of taxol', C47H51NO14 , ---> results: Beilstein Registry No.= 1420456 for Taxol, also taxol stereo isomers were also given as well as journal references)

Cambridge Soft Chemfinder System (search string: Taxol , ---> results: Physical data on Taxol and links to other web site database pages on Taxol)

Electronic Information Collections:-

VChemlib (search : Taxol, ---> results : 3D rotating molecule of Taxol )

ECTOC-3 Electronic Conference (search : Taxol, ---> results : Platinum catalysed cascade reaction of a Camphor Derivative which could be integrated in the synthesis of Taxol)

ECHET96 Electronic Conference (search : Taxol, ---> results : Use of Jacobson's catalyst in stereoselective syntheses, e.g Taxol)
