RESEARCH

March 1997 till now in Dr Lickiss's group at Imperial College of Science and Medicine, London, as a EU postdoctoral researcher.

Synthesis of new siloxanes still bearing hydroxy groups by controlled condensation of bulky silanetriols. Also a study of the reactivity of both resulting siloxanes and starting silanetriols, towards metal complexes with the aim of making models of silica supported metal catalysts.

1995-1996, in Dr Tanaka's group at the National Institute of Material and Chemical Research in Tsukuba (Japan), on a postdoctoral position supported by the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

Moderate to high yield synthesis of bis(carbodiimido)titanium complexes using simple mono-tin substituted carbodiimides and titanocene dichlorides. Oligomerisation reactions between specially prepared "long" di-tin di-carbodiimides (having organic spacers) and titanium chlorides. Study of the reactivity of disilacyclobutanes towards acylchlorides in the presence of palladium catalysts.

1991-1994, in Dr Bertrand's group at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination, CNRS, Toulouse, France, as a Ph.D. student.

Reactivity of the bis(trimethylstannyl)diazomethane as a versatile "CN2" transferring agent. Synthesis under very mild conditions of several heteroatom substituted nitrilimines (B, P, Si), as well as the first stable purely organic nitrilimine, the bis(triphenylmethyl)nitrilimine. Study of the unprecedented isomerization of tin diazo derivatives into carbodiimides. Investigations of the reactivity of the resulting carbodiimides towards chlorophosphines, to the formation of bisphosphanylcarbodiimides and study of their reactivity as bis(1,3-dipoles).

July-September 1993, in Dr Watanabe's group at SUMITOMO PETROCHEMICAL COMPANY, Niihama, (Japan), as a trainee.

Optimization of the Yield and purity in the synthesis of an artificial musk named Phantolid.
