Department of Chemistry, Imperial College London
The location of chemistry department areas within the campus
map is shown as coloured areas. Access to the Campus is from
the Exhibition Road entrance, located along Imperial College
Road.
- The Purple area (building "C1") is the main entrance,
accessible from Imperial College Road. Please go to the main
security desk and ask for the person you wish to meet.
Conference Rooms A and B are in this area.
Note1: From August 2005 for about six months, this
reception area is closed due to refurbishment. Please go to
the C2 entrance (below).
- The yellow area is the block known locally as "C2".
Access to this is only by security card or by attracting the
attention of the receptionist inside (if no receptionist is present,
please go to the main security desk in the administration block and
ask someone to give you access).
Note2: Whilst the main entrance in C1 is being
refurbished, this entrance constitutes the main entrance to
the C1/C2 chemistry block.
Note3: In the small lobby to this entrance, you might
wish to take a brief look at the display cabinet housing part
of the Armstrong-Wynne collection. For more detail, see http://www.armstrongwynne.org/
- The Red block is the "old building" (RCS1) and houses
lectures theatre C and D, and a number of research
laboratories and staff offices. Access is by swipe card
only.
- The green area is the Pippard Lecture theatre, where
undergraduate lectures and external talks can be given. Go to
level 5 of the Sherfield (Administration) building to gain
access.
- The Blue area is the Flowers building housing the GTC
(Gene Therapy Centre); access is only by swipe card.
- The orange block is the Fleming building (SAF) housing
the medical school. Occasional colloquia occur here. Coffee
and other refreshments are also available here.
- The Cyan location is the SALC (Seminar and Learning Centre).
Please note that parking is severely restricted, and use of
public transport is strongly recommended. The nearest tube
station (about 500m to the south of the map down Exhibition
Road) is South Kensington Station on the
District, Circle and Piccadilly lines. The campus is outside
the London congestion charging zone as of 2005, but will be
within the congestion zone in the near future.
