David Loong is a Ramsay Memorial Fellow currently working on new and efficient methods to synthesise naphthalenes and helicenes
within the Barrett group. Before coming to London, David worked with Kate Jolliffe at the University of Sydney, Australia on
cyclic pseudopeptide analogs as supramolecular scaffolds. Prior to this, he finished his PhD studies on natural product total
synthesis with Martin Banwell at Australian National University in 2003. He completed his BTech in Chemical Technology, 1st class
hons at Massey University, New Zealand in 1998. His research interests include: organic synthesis, new synthetic methodologies,
functional synthesis and supramolecular chemistry. When not otherwise occupied by work, David likes cooking, travelling and writing
about cooking and travelling.
